I wake up to the sound of birds singing. A bird sits right on my balcony, a bright blue stripe along the back of its brown body. I wonder if I have seen this kind of bird before. I turn my eyes to the flowerpot sitting at the corner. I see a small pink flower, half-opened. I am sure that the bushy tree didn’t have a flower yesterday, only a small bud.
It is a new day.

I feel as though I slept well last night. Then I realize that my baby girl didn’t wake me up even once last night. Yes! She slept through the night. She is awake but still lying down. I slowly walk toward her crib and make my appearance. She gives me a big smile. Wait…I can see her teeth coming in! Two little ones at the bottom. I tell the exciting news to my husband, who is still in bed. He gets up and checks her new teeth. “Cute!” It is a surprise.
I hear that my three-year-old son is awake in his room. He tries to let me know that he is awake by yelling, “Mammmmmy!!!” He seems to be looking out the window when he yells, “Hey, our neighbour is walking his dog!” Neighbour. I wonder when he learned that word. It is a discovery.

My name is Junko Thacker. I am a wife and a mother of two. With my family, every day is as important as the special days. Every day is full of surprises and discoveries.
I am a photographer. With my camera, I celebrate those everyday moments with families, as well as their big special days. A photo is full of emotions and appreciation.
I work with families with brand new babies, toddlers, and children. I use natural light and shoot at their homes, their backyards, local parks… wherever they feel comfortable with. I capture real and spontaneous moments.

Relax and be yourself. I know that is sometimes harder than it sounds, but it is the first and the last thing I ask you to bring when we meet.
I will capture the true you. The images I create will prove that ordinary moments of your everyday are extraordinary moments of your life.
