Well, they’re not actual shoes, but stamps.
Once in a while, I like to send cards to people to say happy birthday, thank you, come to a party, or even just hello. But mostly I do it because I like finding mail in my own snail mailbox. Of course, sending an e-mail might be more efficient for most of us (I e-mail a lot, too), but I find receiving a handwritten letter or card to be a heartwarming experience.
When I write a card, I always try to add a personal touch and make it a little more creative. In addition to my handwritten messages, I’ve recently started using cute stamps* created by artist riyo k, who designs and hand-carves each stamp. The ones I bought came with charming little matchboxes to store the stamps. I like the boxes as much as I like the stamps themselves!
Since I started using the stamps either on the cards or envelopes, writing cards has become a more fun experience. Even now, I’m waiting for the shipment of holiday stamps that I’ve ordered, mapping out ideas for how to use them….
* Stamps are available at riyo’s Etsy store, talktothesun. She has lots of stamps that would be great for kids. Some are made to order (you can include your name or a child’s name), which is next on my list! You can follow her latest creations by liking her Facebook fan page, Talktothesun.
